Overview

This guide covers day-to-day use of Xiao An AI Voice Assistant (Baidu RTC Edition) — AiPi-PalChatV1: power-on and charging, network setup and reconfiguration, wake-up and conversation, interrupting and ending a conversation, and volume control.

1. Power-On and Charging

1.1 Connecting Power

Connect the microphone and the speaker

Make sure the microphone and the speaker are plugged into their corresponding connectors on the device.

Connect the Type-C power cable

Connect a Type-C cable to the Type-C power port of the device.

Slide the power switch to the ON position

Slide the power switch to the ON position. The power indicator (red) lights up, which means the device is on.

After power-on, the device plays a welcome message:

1.2 Battery Charging

If a battery is installed, after the Type-C cable is connected, the charging indicator lights up (blue), which means the battery is charging. When the indicator turns off, the battery is fully charged. If the charging indicator flashes, no battery is installed.


2. Network Setup and Reconfiguration

2.1 Setting Up the Network

Wake up the device

Say “Hello Xiao An” to the device. The device replies “Hello there”.

Enter network setup mode

Say “Start network setup”. The device replies “Network setup started. Please use the mini program to configure Wi-Fi.”

Open the "Ai-Thinker IOT" mini program

Turn on Bluetooth on your phone, scan the QR code with WeChat, and open the “Ai-Thinker IOT” WeChat mini program.

Add the device

Select “AI Hardware Agent” and tap “Add Device”.

Scan for and connect to the device

Tap “Scan Device”, find the device BL602_BD_Vx.x_XXX, and connect to it.

Enter the Wi-Fi name

Enter the Wi-Fi name in the “SSID” field (connect to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network; do not connect to a 5 GHz Wi-Fi network).

Enter the Wi-Fi password

Enter the Wi-Fi password in the “Password” field, and then tap “Configure Wi-Fi”.

Network setup complete

The device replies “Connecting”, and then replies “Connected to the network successfully”. Network setup is complete.

💡 Note: Network setup takes up to about 2 minutes. If the device does not respond for a long time or reports a setup failure, start again from step 1.

2.2 Reconfiguring the Network

If you change the router, or the Wi-Fi name or password changes, follow the steps in section 2.1 to set up the network again.


3. Wake-Up and Conversation

3.1 Voice Wake-Up

Say "Hello Xiao An" to the device. The device replies "Hello there", which means it has been woken up successfully.

3.2 Starting a Conversation

After the device is woken up, say what you want to ask, and the device will answer. One wake-up is enough for a continuous conversation, so you do not need to repeat the wake word for every turn.


4. Interrupting and Ending a Conversation

4.1 Interrupting the Device

While the device is speaking, say "Hello Xiao An" to interrupt it, and then continue with what you want to say.

4.2 Ending a Conversation Manually

Say "I don't want to chat anymore", "Goodbye", or "That's all for now", and the device will end the current conversation.

4.3 Ending a Conversation Automatically

If you do not say anything for a while, the device will end the current conversation automatically and reply "Let's talk later. I am always waiting for you."


5. Volume Control

The volume range of the device is 0–100, and the factory default volume is 70. Say the following commands to the device to adjust the volume:

The volume setting is saved automatically and is retained after the device is powered off.

💡 Note: The device has no volume buttons. The volume is adjusted by voice.
